the “good” and “bad” news of last weekend…

I don’t really know where to start so I just will…bad news 1stWE LOST!

WE? WE! Saturday we (me, Pearlie, and every other Cardinals fan) experienced the disappointment.
CUBS 9CARDINALS 3

OK, that’s where the bad news ends and in reality, despite winning being the purpose of baseball, Pearlie and I had a blast cheering on our beloved St. Louis Cardinals. Check out my Flickr pics for a chance to see the fun we experienced. I can’t wait to share with Mateo and Kaia my love for baseball. I must have mentioned it to Pearlie at least a dozen times how I wished they were there. Anyway…more good news to go along with all the fun we had was after the weekend series we are still in 1st place in our division and won the weekend series 2-1…and as far as I’m concerned and Cubs fans know this as a FACT: THE CURSE STILL LIVES!  Here is photo proof:

Best Retirement speech EVER….
This my friends is what it looks like to show emotion and be real.
Brett Favre’s retirement speech from the NFL was AWESOME. Whether you like football or not, check out this 9:54 min. clip of Brett exemplifying what humility and gratitude looks like with skin on. He has jumped way up on my favorite’s list thanks to him showing me what “going out” with style looks like, as seen in this video.

Favorite Quotes from the speech:
(1:56) “He (God) gave me an opportunity to use my abilities and I seized that opportunity, and I thank Him for that.”

(3:29) “It was never about me…it was about everyone else.”

(4:58) …”It’s been everything I thought it would be…and then some.”

(9:18) “…To be mentioned with those people (the “Green Bay Packer Greats”)…I am honored.”

I love when my team wins!!!

I consider myself a sports fan, and probably “fair weathered”. I like football…but not when my team isn’t playing. That is why I am writing this blog while the Patriots play the Chargers (Patriots are leading 7-6, 2nd quarter) on the TV in the background. I loved baseball in 2006, because my team (St. Louis Cardinals) came out of no where to win it all. 2007…not so fun. That brings me to today. The Preds beat up on the Blues last night (see Shea Weber above). What a great game – Nichol, 2 short-handed goals – Mason, playing well in net. Moving up in the standings is always great, especially against a divisional rival. The Preds are playing well and WINNING. See that is the key for me….WINNING. Winning is fun as a fan. The saying, “it’s not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game,” just doesn’t register in my brain. If it doesn’t matter, why play? What’s the point….seriously?!! Pearlie gets it…cause she’s the same way with games. We don’t have people over that don’t know us well, to play board games as a social ice breaker and “get to know fest”. No, because coming over is more like experiencing the Pope game night from ____ (somewhere bad), and all the competiveness that one house can hold….no really!!?? OK, maybe some what. Well, the Patriots just scored again 14-6….(yawn). I think I’ll catch up on some reading. I wonder when the Predators play again.
